North Tyneside Council - About Us

North Tyneside Council is one of the borough's major employers, with over 3,000 employees who work in a variety of roles and settings. As a Local Authority we are ambitious in driving forward the borough’s success and making a difference for residents, and those who work and visit our borough.

Award-winning beaches and restaurants, family events in our friendly and busy town centres, and outstanding attractions, including our regeneration of the Spanish City, make North Tyneside a great place to live and work.
North Tyneside is exceptionally well-connected to the rest of Tyne and Wear, by road and by public transport. The borough also has some of the country’s best-performing primary and secondary schools in the country and the area has been the safest metropolitan borough in England for the last five years based on crime rates.

Safeguarding is everybody’s business

North Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and adults at risk of harm. All employees and volunteers are expected to share this commitment and to familiarise themselves with all relevant policies, procedures and guidance. Within North Tyneside, safeguarding is everybody’s business.

North Tyneside Council operates a smoke free workplace

North Tyneside Council has a smoke free policy. We do not discriminate against people who smoke but expect all employees to be smoke-free whilst at work. We also offer support for employees who wish to stop smoking.
