The Digital Durham programme team are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to support the Digital Communities element of the council’s Digital Strategy, which aims to help the people of County Durham to get the most out of digital technologies.

The post is part time temporary working 32 hours per week to cover a period of maternity leave until approximately July 2022 or until the return of the substantive post holder from maternity leave, whichever is sooner.

The post holder will be accountable for the development, co-ordination and delivery of a range of existing and new initiatives and projects to help achieve the council’s digital and connectivity aspirations.

The role also involves pro-actively seeking funding opportunities, researching and developing ideas for related projects or for appropriate partnership working both on a regional and national basis where appropriate. Example projects could be linked to digital inclusion (provision of digital skills, access to devices and broadband), working to identify and improve the levels of connectivity or the development of Smart Place initiatives.

Being able to engage and effectively communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders is an essential part of the role. Strong planning and organisation skills are also vital.

Candidates should have a Degree or equivalent qualification and experience of Project Management.
