The Service
Working as the Team Leader of the Infrastructure Team within Information Services you will be expected to provide management and technical input for major IT infrastructure projects across Northumberland whilst operating 3rd line technical support for existing infrastructure including two Data Centres. The post holder will have experience of working within the public sector and report directly to the IT Service Support Manager.


The role
Northumberland County Council are looking for a motivated, highly skilled individual with not only technical skills in either networks and/or server infrastructure but proven management capability. The team is extremely busy and has responsibilities that are critical to the operation of the County Council, therefore a focused and analytical approach under pressure is desirable.

Applicants should possess exemplary communication skills and be comfortable explaining technical concepts to non technical staff whilst remaining approachable to all customers of the service.

A starting salary of £36,876 - £40,760 (Band 9)

Essential requirements:
Proven management capability with small teams
Excellent communication skills including the ability to make complex IT issues understandable to a lay person
Friendly and approachable to all customers and suppliers
Working knowledge of CISCO networking equipment and/or Windows Server, VMware and operating systems
In depth understanding of AD, DHCP, DNS and other network concepts
An understanding VOIP systems would be an advantage
