Opportunities occur across the entire College in curriculum and in the various administrative centres within the College together with Adult Learning courses at various venues within the local community. Assignments can be as little as a couple hours a week up to full time working and many supply pool staff have gone on fixed term and permanent posts within the College.

New College Durham is a high performing and financially outstanding College that is continually investing in new facilities and resources for learning.

The College is one of the leading Further Education colleges in the North East and continues to be at the forefront of new initiatives. It has an excellent reputation, and a wide variety of qualifications. Access to HE is a key part of the college’s adult education provision with students 19 years or over from a diverse range of starting points completing their diploma within a year to progress to Higher Education. Our Access to HE provision is expanding both in terms of the ever popular Health diploma; creating the nurses and paramedics of the future, and the Educational Studies diploma; preparing students for the world of primary and secondary education. Our Humanities and Social Science diploma also offers students the chance to study history, social work, law and psychology at universities such as Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria and Sunderland. The newest of our qualifications, the Science diploma offers an even more diverse and competitive set of destinations with students studying bio-medicine, radiography, zoology and accountancy.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, organised and committed lecturer to join our successful team working across our programmes. Working for an outstanding College, the successful candidate should have a background in teaching psychology at level 3 (Access to HE, A-Level or BTEC) with excellent outcomes. A psychology specialism is preferred but we would welcome those with alternate specialisms, with experience of teaching psychology. The successful candidate may also be part of teaching wider health and social sciences along with personal development. Students studying with us achieve results well above national average and progress to diverse and high-quality destinations, often linked to their studies

The role would support outstanding outcomes for our students against individualised targets; leading on programmes and working closely as part of a supportive team to contribute to exceptional achievement and progress for all our students.

We welcome applications from candidates with a range of experience including newly qualified teachers. Opportunities exist for evening delivery as well as day time delivery.
