Salary amounts quoted are from the 1 September to 31 August and therefore if you commence employment part way through the academic year, they are subject to an equated salary adjustment.
Grade G + SSA, 37 hours per week term time only (x2 posts).
An opportunity has arisen within the Low Incidence Needs Team (LINT), Gateshead Council, for two full time Specialist Sensory Teaching Assistants.
LINT works across the 0-25 age range within both mainstream and special school settings. You will be expected to work flexibly where required across Gateshead.
We are looking for applicants who meet the higher-level teaching assistant standards or hold an equivalent qualification.
You will be required to have BSL Level 2 and be willing to achieve Level 3 within 2 years.
You will have knowledge of the impact of hearing loss upon learning and development, a good understanding of child development, learning processes and barriers to learning.
You should have worked with national/early years curriculum, programmes and strategies.
Experience of working with hearing impaired children and young people is essential, along with use of specialist resources and technologies relevant to support leaning.
Experience of using sign language alongside speech to facilitate communication is essential.
