An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Progressed Social Workers to work as part of Newcastle’s Safeguarding Adult Unit within the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), providing a co-ordinated approach to managing safeguarding concerns for adults at risk within Newcastle. This is a relatively new team which is continuing to develop and expand, giving the successful applicant the opportunity to be part if this development.

You will need to be highly motivated and have the ability to deal with a large volume of referrals which come into the MASH on a daily basis. You should have a commitment to safeguarding adults at risk and making safeguarding personal. You must be able to identify risk, taking appropriate action in order to minimise future risks. The MASH deals with situations where there is complex abuse and you need to have the emotional resilience to deal with this. You should also be committed to forging links with our partner agencies who we work closely with as part of the MASH team.

You must have a relevant Social Work qualification such as Degree in social Work, Dip SW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, have passed your progression in Social Work and be currently registered with Social Work England.

Professional support, supervision and appraisal will be provided by one of the Safeguarding Adults Managers.

If you are successful, we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage, even if you indicate otherwise.

The posts are fixed term for 2 years.
