Further information
Newcastle City Council Adult Services Department would like to recruit a Social Worker to join the Drug and Alcohol Social Work team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of a small, specialist team to provide a social work service for adults who are wanting to access residential rehabilitation services.
The postholder will need to have an appropriate Social Work qualification and have good knowledge of issues relating to alcohol and substance misuse, treatment and recovery. The main function of this post will be to manage a caseload of individuals wanting to access residential rehabilitation services. You will carry out assessments and where appropriate carry out preparatory work and coordinate and manage admissions to residential rehabilitation facilities. You will need to work in partnership and develop good relationships with local and national treatment services.
In addition to this function you will be based within the Mental Health Social Work Team and support the team with duty social work tasks for two or three days each month. This will include Section 42 safeguarding enquiries and other Care Act (2014) duties.
If you would like to arrange an informal discussion please contact Lisa Scorfield, Team Manager by email at
lisa.scorfield@newcastle.gov.uk
As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.
