A full time permanent post has become available in the Catering & Cleaning Service, Gateshead Council, based in Shearlegs Road Depot. The role will include carrying out repairs and maintenance to catering and cleaning equipment to ensure all machinery complies with the relevant Health and Safety legislation. This will occur through the Building Cleaning and Catering contracts. Other elements of the role will include minor (DIY) repairs and other tasks appropriate to the grade of the post.

Applicants must possess a level 2 qualification with an emphasis in electrical repairs such as City & Guilds Performing Operations or Consumer Electrical and Electronic Servicing or equivalent and hold a Level 3 Certificate of Competence for the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment as well as having practical experience of the inspection and testing of such equipment.

Applicants must demonstrate good verbal communication skills and excellent levels of customer care as the role will be customer facing. Applicants will have experience of carrying out repairs and servicing of electrical and mechanical equipment with knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

It would be advantageous for any applicants if they can demonstrate experience of working in an education setting or if they are qualified to BS7671:2008 (18th edition).
