Are you passionate about improving the lives of disabled children? 

Northumberland is on a continuing improvement journey in relation to its services and support for children with SEND. Our recent SEND reinspection was positive about the progress made since 2018 but we know we have further to go and are ambitious about the outcomes we want to achieve. 

We are looking to appoint a senior manager to lead on the children's social care offer for disabled children and those with special educational needs. The postholder will be a qualified social worker with a good understanding of the children's social care and SEND systems and a proven ability to work across organisations and agencies to develop services. 

As well as managing the Disabled Childrens Social Work team the postholder will fulfill the Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO) role for Northumberland working closely with the Designated Clinical Officer, senior managers in adult services, education and health and our parent/carer forum. They will provide strategic leadership for the continued development of the social care response for children with SEND across Northumberland including leading on the short break offer, the continued development of our Preparation for Adulthood work and providing guidance for other senior managers in relation to the response for children with SEND and ensuring there are clear communication channels with parents, young people, schools and others.

The salary range is £61,910 - £65,287
