Role:

The Council requires a Senior Development Management Officer to work within the Development Management Team.

This is one of two posts being advertised within the Planning Team. The posts are for a Senior Development Management Officer and a Planning Officer. If applicants apply for the Senior Planning Officer post they will be provided with the opportunity to be appointed for either of the two posts advertised.

Duties will include:

• To deal with all types and scale of applications submitted under the Town and Country Planning Acts and other related legislation, including works to protected trees.

• To deal with major and strategic planning applications.

• To prepare appeal statements and appear as expert witness for planning appeals.

• To provide support to the Development Management Team Leader in the determination of delegated applications.

• To prepare and present reports for Committee and Council meetings when required


You should have IT skills and be able to record information accurately; be enthusiastic and committed; have an ability to work under pressure; have a flexible approach to work tasks; an ability to relate to the general public; and have good negotiating skills.

A current driving license is also essential.
