Post title: School Counsellor – x 2 part time permanent posts available

1 x 22.5 hours per week
1 x 26.25 hours per week

Salary: £28,672 - £32,234 Grade 9 (pro-rata to hours worked)

Job Location: Your normal place of work will be in schools; however, you may be required to work at any council workplace within County Durham, and on a monthly basis will be expected to attend Team Meetings at the Education Development Centre in Spennymoor.

This is a great opportunity to join our Emotional Wellbeing and Effective Learning Team to deliver counselling support to young people in secondary and primary schools in order to promote wellbeing, achievement and resilience.

The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to deliver effective therapeutic intervention and significant experience of counselling children and young people in schools. They will have a good knowledge of BACP Code of Ethics and have an understanding of mental health issues and factors affecting young people today, with particular knowledge and experience of working with children who are looked after.

Required qualifications: Diploma in Counselling or equivalent and a Professional Accreditation or actively working towards accreditation

The successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for a Disclosure & Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.
