Roofer – Repairs and Maintenance

An opportunity has become available within Gateshead Construction Services, Repairs and Maintenance for the role of a Roofer.

The Repairs and Maintenance service is responsible for the delivery of emergency and routine repairs to domestic dwellings, as well as the renovation of void properties and aids and adaptations.

The role of the Roofer will undertake roofing work covering repairs and refurbishment to a range of housing and other Council properties. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and on your own initiative providing a repair and maintenance service to residential properties and other local authority establishments across the borough of Gateshead.

To be successful in the role it is essential that have knowledge or the construction industry and an understanding of equality and diversity in the workplace.

You must have the ability to undertake a comprehensive range of roofing activities and a good working knowledge of Health and Safety (Regulations and Codes of Practice for the Working Environment) to ensure that you and others are working within a safe environment. You will have experience and be able to work at height, on scaffold, and in confined spaces.



You will have a wealth of experience of roofing repairs and maintenance and all other aspects of roofing works. You will also have 5 GCSE A-C (4-9) or equivalent (including Maths and English).

Flexibility and willingness to carry out roofing activities when required across other areas of the business is essential as is the need to hold a current (full) driving license in order to meet the travel requirements of the post. You will be able to demonstrate evidence of continual professional development and will have a willingness to undertake any additional corporate or trade training as required.

The role will be 37 hours per week Monday to Friday on a permanent basis.
