An opportunity exists for a Project Support Officer working within the SustainableTransport and Road Safety Team in the Development, Transport & Public Protection Service.

You will support the Team Leader and team members to develop and deliver sustainable transport and road safety strategies and programmes, frequently in school settings but with some activity in community and workplace settings.

Duties will include supporting the Team Leader and the Road Safety Officer in managing the School Crossing Patrol service and Bikeability Trainers.

Duties will also include supporting the Team Leader and Assistant Transport Planner in developing and delivering the Council'sTravel Plan and Sustainable Modes of Travel Strategy together with wider Sustainable Transport strategic delivery.

More generally, you will work with partners and other key stakeholders to coordinate comprehensive programmes of activity across the borough. This will include planning, delivery and evaluation of road safety and sustainable transport activities and assisting with coordination of Active Travel Promotion activity and Schools Go Smarter projects, including Child Pedestrian Training.

The job requires some knowledge of sustainable travel and road safety strategies and practices.
5 GCSE passes at Grade C or Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) are also required.

You will also need to demonstrate good organisational, communication, numeracy, literacy and IT skills. These, and the required knowledge of sustainable travel and road safety issues, will be assessed in a presentation task to be set ahead of the interview, and in the interview questions themselves.

Experience of working in an educational environment, and/or coaching or cycling/ walking qualifications would be an advantage.

The 21 hours/week, term-time only pattern of work will involve 3 working days per week during school terms.
