THE GALA THEATRE & CINEMA
Part of a creative and forward-thinking team, you will play a key role in arts programming across County Durham. This is an opportunity to use your vision and commercial acumen to create a vibrant and distinctive performing arts programme for the County’s theatres and cultural venues.
You will lead on the programming of the Gala Theatre, researching and sourcing high quality touring work, and striking a balance between the commercial and artistic. The programmes will be artistically strong while driving revenue for the theatres. You will also play a key role in building on the success of Gala’s own productions, by producing a range of theatre work, developing links with creative professionals in the sector, and offering creative input.
Employed by Durham County Council, you will provide advice and support on all matters relating to arts programming and be responsible for the employees and budgets for the service area, including the delivery of commercial income targets.
Your essential experience will include: managing or programming a cultural venue or performing arts programme, theatre production, managing employees and managing significant budgets, and delivery against income targets.
Required Qualifications:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a culture and arts qualification.
The successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.
