The Service

Providing strategic procurement for Northumberland County Council & Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; the Procurement Shared Service is a ground-breaking collaboration between Local Authority and NHS. The service, now into its fourth year, provides a sustainable and cost-effective procurement service, which helps drive economic benefits and service quality for its stakeholder organisations.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Procurement Specialist, the Procurement Specialist will be responsible for a portfolio of defined strategic procurement activities across the two stakeholder organisations, but with an emphasis on Non-Healthcare projects. Previous applicants need not apply.

This role is designed for an individual who has experience at Senior Procurement Officer or Procurement Officer level ideally in the Public Sector and wants to progress his or her career, undertaking and delivering complex and specialist projects across a range of categories, including ICT, Fleet and Professional Services. The successful applicant will demonstrate a good knowledge of public sector procurement and commercial business acumen, developed from relevant experience. Knowledge of OJEU and Public Contracts Regulations will be essential.

Those joining the Shared Procurement Service will have a unique opportunity to make a real contribution to shape and drive the direction of the service whilst providing exceptional service to clients and customer. Successful applicants will need to be proactive, quick to learn and enjoy being challenged by new areas and activities; they will need to possess excellent communication and team working skills

We are offering:
- A starting salary of £32,029 rising to £35,934 with automatic annual pay progression
