Evenwood C of E Primary School’s Governing Body is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, caring and enthusiastic Sports and PE Apprentice – Level 2.

We are hoping to appoint a caring, responsible, reliable and flexible individual who wishes to make a career of working with children. This position will provide a valuable opportunity to enter into the teaching assistant profession through an apprenticeship.

We are looking for a person who:
• Is able to work as part of a team
• Is able to work under the direction of line managers
• Has experience of being with young children
• Has good basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Can use Microsoft Office
• Is able to use common sense and initiative
• Learns quickly and wants to learn
• Is calm and patient
• Is flexible and proactive
• Is hardworking and resilient
• Has experience of sports leadership / coaching
• Has a cheerful disposition

Responsibilities include working increasingly towards being able to:
• Work in partnership with teachers and staff to provide effective support for children with learning and play activities both in PE and across the curriculum
• Attend to minor injuries and keep appropriate records
• Support independent learning and the inclusion of all the pupils
• Support in behaviour management and social skills development
• Support with the preparation of classroom and playground activity resources
• Assist in escorting and supervising pupils in school and off site
• Assist with the supervision of pupils within and outside of lesson times
• Help to maintain a safe and tidy work environment, both in and out of doors

Comprehensive training will be provided to enable an individual to work towards fulfilling the responsibilities of the role.

The successful applicant will be joining a team of teachers and support staff whose principle aim is to provide a safe and happy environment in which the children can learn and play together.

Essential Qualifications:
Level 2 NVQ Activity Leadership
Level 2 Employers Awareness
Level 2 Health Related Activity First Aid / Safeguarding Additional NGB Award
