Are you looking for an opportunity to gain a qualification in Local Environmental Services, Level 2 whilst gaining valuable work experience? Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has an exciting new opportunity within the Neighbourhoods Section.

The team are responsible for:
• Cleaning and maintaining the external environment of the councils leisure & community heart
• Cleaning and maintaining the foreshore attractions throughout the borough
• Cleaning and maintaining the main arterial routes in to the borough
• Operate hand grass cutting/street cleaning equipment
• Manual operations in grounds maintenance/street cleaning/beach maintenance/fly tipping removal
• Assist in household waste collection – (when required)
• Application of chemicals for weed treatment & graffiti removal (subject to further training & qualification)
• Assisting in community events

You will gain valuable work experience supporting the team and will cover a whole variety of subjects such as:
• Working in a team
• Communication
• Dealing with routine waste
• Health & Safety
• Open space maintenance of land including street cleaning
• Using power tools and hand held tools and equipment
• Preparing the ground for seeding/planting
• Preparing/Establishing plants or seeds in soil.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, positive individual who is self-motivated and able to work using their own initiative as well as being a team player. The successful candidate will be committed to providing an excellent service and be willing to learn and develop their knowledge.

As an apprentice you will be eligible to apply for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council’s internal job vacancies as and when they arise within the Council.

Apprenticeship opportunities are open to anyone over the age of 16 years old with no upper age limit. You will need a commitment to attend training to attain the appropriate level of functional skills (Maths, English and ICT) if these have not already been achieved.
