Gateshead Council’s Business, Employment and Skills Service is responsible for leading the Council’s efforts to create a strong, sustainable and inclusive economy. It works across the policy areas that drive growth - the business environment and labour market – with the aim of boosting prosperity and reducing economic inequality.
The Service works with a wide range of partners and stakeholders to generate and secure opportunities for the benefit of local residents to access employment, support new business starts and enhance business growth in the borough; this can often entail delivering grant funded and/ or commercially driven contracts.
An opportunity has now arisen for a focused, results driven individual to join the Service as an NEA Quality Assurance and Monitoring Supervisor.
The role will be full-time and is based within the Strategic Funding Team and will support the Team Manager to successfully deliver the Department for Work & Pensions Work (DWP) New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) Programme, managing the quality and contractual compliance of the project including up to 12 sub- contractors across the North East region.
The opportunity is offered on a fixed term basis to 31 March 2022.
The role will involve applying initiative, having a solution focused approach and a commitment to ensuring contractual targets and obligations are met. Monitoring and supervising staff and quality of delivery of the supply chain are key features of the post.
Knowledge of business planning, local and national enterprise business and start up support will be required in this post as will interventions and activities to help unemployed people start up a business.
You will have NVQ3 or equivalent qualification. You will have experience of supervising staff; operating within a business start-up support or enterprise or welfare to work environment. Demonstrate contract/ programme/ project management and monitoring. You will have experience of partnership working and working collaboratively, with the ability to prioritising workload and working to tight deadlines. In this role experience of working on own initiative as well as part of a team, preparing and presenting reports to a range of audiences is also a prerequisite.
Flexibility and excellent communication skills will be needed on a daily basis in order to motivate and drive staff and deal with a range of stakeholders including Job Centre Plus, DWP, and up to 12 supply chain partners.
