An opportunity has arisen within Sunderland City Council for the role of Maintenance Operative Technical (Electrician / Alarm Engineer) for the Building Services Section.

The role will involve working in domestic, industrial and commercial buildings carrying out a range of technical trade activities to deliver installation, repairs and maintenance functions.

Working alongside colleagues within the Building Services Team you will ensure that work is delivered to a high standard and meet our quality and performance expectations.

The post holder will be working as part of our repairs and maintenance department carrying out a variety of tasks to support business needs whilst being able to undertake electrical, fire and intruder Alarm work as part of a maintenance team, ensuring all work is delivered to a high standard, providing an excellent customer service and ensuring all work is delivered on time and within budget.

Moving forward our focus is on improving, developing and growing the department to ensure we are providing a sustainable service to all customers. This role plays a key part in driving this ambition forward.

To succeed in this role applicants must have a relevant 18th Edition BS7671 trade qualification when applying for our electrician role or alternatively fire and intruder alarm qualifications with experience of working within a busy operational repairs and maintenance department. Experience of commercial grade emergency and security systems with 2391-52 or equivalent inspection and testing qualification or working towards would be an advantage.

A full driving license will be required to carry out this role and a works vehicle will be allocated to all successful candidates upon appointment.

The proposed hours of the role are 37 hours per week across 5 days Monday to Friday with flexible working.
