An opportunity has arisen within the High Incidence Needs Team (HINT), Gateshead Council, for a Liaison Teacher - Physical and Medical Needs.

HINT works across the 4 - 25 age range within mainstream settings.

You will be expected to work flexibly where required across Gateshead.

We are looking to appoint a Qualified Teacher (QTS) to join the Special Educational Needs Improvement Team (SENIT) and provide peripatetic/outreach support to children and young people aged 4 -25 years with a range of physical/medical needs.

You must be a qualified, experienced teacher and have relevant and substantial classroom experience. The focus of the role will be on assessment and advice to schools and settings for children/young people with physical and/or medical needs in a peripatetic/outreach role.

An in depth knowledge of the requirements for Safeguarding & Child Protection, the strategies and technologies used to remove barriers to learning for children and young people with physical/medical needs is essential as is knowledge of current SEND policy and practice especially as it affects teaching and learning within provisions. You should have experience of working with families and different settings, and experience of multi-agency working.

Experience of delivery of staff development sessions and whole school training and presentations is essential.
