Further information

Over the past 18 months Gateshead Council has prioritised its COVID-19 response efforts in order to protect our residents during the pandemic, and many of our leisure services staff continue to play a vital role in this.

As we ease out of lockdown, we have started a phased reopening of our leisure facilities and we are now looking to appoint to the following vacancies on a temporary basis to cover the post holders who are still redeployed elsewhere to support the continuing COVID-19 response:

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of an excellent customer experience to leisure customers by carrying out duties such as preparing activity areas for customers, carrying out equipment checks and maintaining the presentation of the leisure facility. You will also be required to supervise the pool in a Lifeguard capacity and Clip and Climb to ensure the safety of all employees and customers.

It is essential that you have knowledge of customer needs within the leisure industry. Effective communication skills, team working and customer service skills are also essential. You must hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification with an up to date training record and be qualified in GCSE Maths and English (Level 4-9, or Grade C-A*), or equivalent.

If successful you will need to apply for an enhanced Disclosure.
