32.5 hrs per week, term time plus 5 training days, to be class based as directed by the Head Teacher.

The post is suitable for experienced Special Needs Assistants.

Required from April 2021, Learning Support Assistants with an interest in working with pupils with autism and associated disorders. All pupils have significant learning difficulties and complex needs. The range of abilities stretches from P Levels to lower National Curriculum levels.

Prosper Learning Trust was established in January 2018 with Newcastle Bridges School and Mary Astell Academy with Thomas Bewick School joining in 2019 and Harry Watts Academy in 2020. We are striving to further build collaboration across the schools and grow as a Multi Academy Trust, whilst continuing to strengthen our relationships with schools outside the MAT for the benefit of our pupils.

Harry Watts Academy is a new special free school (open September 2020) for pupils with autism aged between five and sixteen years located in Sunderland. Initially the school opened to a small cohort of pupils based in temporary accommodation. The new school building is expected to open in April 2021 and pupil numbers will be increased in September 2021. We are therefore looking to recruit a small number of staff for March/April but also additional staff for a September 2021 start.

This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check and references being received. The successful candidates will be deployed initially at Harry Watts Academy but will be expected to work at any Prosper Learning Trust site should the need arise.
