You will be supported by our friendly experienced team primarily based in our main office at Morpeth County Hall.

The role:

We are looking for a Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join our dynamic, busy and friendly legal team. Full time (37 hours per week) preferred however Part time application will be considered.

CLOSING DATE 29th October 2021

Your main responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts?and public sector agreements; advising on public procurement law; advising on contractual disputes;?providing support and management throughout various procurement processes and liaising with Senior Officers as appropriate.

The successful candidate would also ideally be able to provide advice?with regard to subsidy control and information law including GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, requests under the?Freedom of Information Act and requests under the Environmental Information Regulations.

The successful candidate will bring existing knowledge in the areas of Contracts and?Procurement and / or an enthusiasm to learn and develop in this area. With relevant experience in these areas, you will advise and communicate with in-house clients and colleagues. You will have an eye for detail and good organisational skills, which will?enable you to carry a substantial workload. Flexible and innovative in your approach, you will help us?to positively develop new areas of practice.

The post has a starting salary of between £32,910 - £36,922 for those who will be newly qualified (band 8); £37,890 - £41,881 per annum for those with more than one year PQE (Band 9). Individuals appointed to band 8 will transition to band 9 after one year

The working arrangements are flexible, including the opportunity to work predominantly from home.

Who are we looking for?

The Council is looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister or fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives who holds a current?practicing certificate or is approaching qualification.
