The Routes to Work project is a jointly funded pilot initiative involving the Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to support those people most distant from the labour market to prepare for and access work.

Due to the continuing success of the project, the pilot initiative has been extended and will now support people aged 16 and over to overcome difficulties and access employment. This includes people who have been out of work for a long period, have barriers preventing them from accessing employment such as; mental health, physical health, offending, low skills/ education, homelessness and those who are no longer eligible for alternative support.

The project provides an exciting opportunity to test new ways of collaborative working at a local level that takes a person centred and responsive approach to address the multiple barriers that some people face when trying to access work.

The project will provide holistic support from a range of service providers for those unemployed or economically inactive people across the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, who are considered to need the most help and support to get back to work.

The purpose of the post is to manage a caseload of participants and provide them with high levels of individual service and support to overcome barriers to work and to secure sustainable employment.

The successful candidates will be required to work with a range of partners and have previous experience of working with unemployed residents who may have complex needs.

Applicants must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and have the ability to engage and work one to one with those who may have complex needs and challenging behaviours to influence and secure positive change in peoples’ lives.
