Further information

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Homeless Reduction Officer who will work within the Council’s Housing Options Team.

The role is to interview, assess and identify prevention/relief options for people while working collaboratively with housing and homelessness services, prisons, drug treatment agencies and other relevant partners. You will carry out a Housing Needs Assessment and a Personalised Housing Plan with the customer to ensure successful outcomes.

The main aim is to prevent homelessness, deliver housing advice and make appropriate enquiries to determine the available options for the individual. The role requires you to work with vulnerable customers in challenging situations.

You should have a good understanding of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017, issues surrounding homelessness and its prevention/ relief of homelessness, along with IT and case recording skills. You should be resilient, be able to solve problems, manage a caseload and meet deadlines as well as being able to work on your own initiative and as part of the team.

The successful candidate will need to be able to negotiate and communicate empathetically with people whilst being sensitive to different life experiences.

This role can be demanding but rewarding, providing a real opportunity to help people in need access the services they require.
