An opportunity has arisen in the Housing Options Team for the role of Homeless Prevention Manager.

Reporting to the Homelessness Business Manager you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of the strategic aims of the Housing Strategy which incorporates the homelessness prevention and rough sleeping action plan.

It will involve working in partnership with other statutory and voluntary agencies developing and reviewing policy and procedures and to ensure operational effectiveness in the prevention of homelessness in Gateshead.

You will be required to work on your own initiative, developing inter agency networks; with a clear focus on the prevention of homelessness.

It is essential that you have a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent. You will need to be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of Homeless Legislation; a track record in developing homeless prevention methods and services and understand the importance of working in partnership with key stakeholders to mitigate the impact of homelessness. You will also need to be able to demonstrate a proven track record of managing and supervising staff.

It is also essential that you have relevant experience of working in homelessness or a related field, partnership working, effective communication skills and excellent negotiation skills, including the ability to chair meetings and deliver presentations.
