HLTA and TA Position

One post of 34 Hours per week Term Time plus 5 days, split over

14 hours HLTA Level 4 – pay band 5 (£21,589 FTE. £7,017 Pro-rated)
20 hours TA Level 3- pay band 4 (£19,554 FTE. £9,079 pro-rated)


Pegswood Primary School serves the area of Pegswood village and is supported by a friendly community with happy, enthusiastic children.

Pegswood Primary School has 180 children on our mainstream roll and a further 30 children in Nursery. We became a Primary school in September 2015 as part of the re-organisation of the Ashington Partnership of schools from a three tier to a two tier system.

Children enter our school at the age of 3+ and will remain with us until the age of 11 when they will transfer to Ashington Academy under the new structure. We have close links with the other schools in our partnership and work collaboratively with them. Further information about the school can be found on our website.

The governors are looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic higher level teaching assistant to join their very successful team from November 2019.

You will be required to work closely and effectively with the other members of the school management team and the school governors. Experience of working in a school environment as a higher level teaching assistant is essential. The job description is wide ranging and challenging but equally offers variety & stimulation.

The successful candidate must:
• Hold a valid certificate/ qualification to be an HLTA
• Have experience in leading a class
• Forest school experience is desirable but not essential

The position will be a combination of two posts-
TA 8.30-12.30 Monday to Friday
HLTA 13.00 – 15.30 two days a week and 13.00-16.00 three days a week.
