We are looking for a motivated and highly skilled funding specialist to work within the Education & Skills Division, focusing on the education of Newcastle’s children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You will lead on the financial management of the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) High Needs Block, which for the Council for 2021/22 is £45m, and will support the development and implementation of strategies and processes to ensure the effective allocation and distribution of the DSG.

You will have strong financial skills, experience of multi-year forecasting, assessing financial sustainability and presenting complex information and data. Equally important, are highly developed communication skills, and the ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external partners. Experience of education funding and the education sector is desirable but, more importantly, is having the drive and aptitude to learn. You will be part of a team that also delivers valued services to schools in the city and work closely with teams within the Division and Directorate particularly SEND.
