Further information

The Learning and Skills Service currently deliver the Work and Health Programme, a DWP employment programme that provides specialised employment support for people with disabilities and long-term unemployed people. The successful candidate will be based with the Employability Team within the Learning and Skills Service, working alongside employability and curriculum programme staff including Employment Coaches, Business Advisers and Tutors and with other Council services supporting residents to take up employment and training opportunities.

The role

The primary function of the Health and Wellbeing Employment Coach is to support participants to better manage health conditions and promote wellbeing activities that help participants to move closer to employment. You will be responsible for creating Health and Wellbeing plans for participants with both mental and physical health issues; developing partnerships and referral pathways with local health organisations and acting as an advocate for participants. You will actively engage with referral organisations to develop referral pathways for participants who require specific, specialist support and you will signpost participants to these organisations.

It will be your responsibility to actively seek to understand the local health and wellbeing landscape across Northumberland and develop relationships and partnerships with local organisations, explaining the programme to various stakeholders. It is expected that you will work closely with Employment Coaches to identify appropriate health and wellbeing interventions for participants that will complement actions and activities in participants employment action plans.

We are seeking an engaging individual with excellent interpersonal skills who will feel at ease delivering short training and advice sessions (i.e. mindfulness, healthy eating, disclosing health conditions etc.). It is expected that you will have the necessary IT skills to be able to move away from traditional direct delivery mechanisms to provide remote delivery as and when required. The role is based in the South East of Northumberland; however you will support residents across the Northumberland area as required.

This is a permanent position.

Full time 37 hours per week

We are offering:
-A starting salary of £24,982 (Salary range is £24,982 - £27,741)
-Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (or other pension scheme)
-A wide range of staff benefits including a competitive annual leave provision
-Flexible working arrangements

If you would like an informal discussion about the role and expectations, please call Gillian Campbell on: 01670 621222 or email gillian.campbell01@northumberland.gov.uk
