Further information
Do you care enough to make a career of it?
Then Newcastle City Council needs you! Health & Social Care Officers play a vital role in helping people in our communities improve their quality of life. People want to remain as independent in their own home for as long as possible and our Reablement Service is here to help them do that. The Reablement Service is a highly personalised service which helps to make this possible by re-enabling people to do things for themselves.
The service supports adults who need to regain as much independence as possible. They may have a physical, learning or sensory disability, dementia or mental health problems or simply through age have become frail. We need dedicated people to join our teams providing these vital services.
Staff work closely with our health colleagues and must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting independence, health, wellbeing and choice to those who use our services. Maintaining the dignity of people must be a priority at all times and successful applicants must be able to deliver care and support with great sensitivity.
We need Health and Social Care Officers to work in our communities across the city. These posts do not require specific experience or professional qualifications. What they really need is your caring approach, your patience and your commitment to making a real difference to people’s lives. You may already be providing similar services for friends or relatives of your own. Then why not make a career of it?
You need to be able to deliver personal care with great sensitivity and to demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting the independence, choice and dignity of all adults.
Being able to work shifts, weekends and split shifts on a rota basis is essential.
You will work a two-week pattern of four days in week one and three days in week two with every other weekend off. This pattern is a guaranteed 50-hour fortnight and weekend enhancements are paid as are travel expenses.
Further information can be obtained by contacting Andrea Marshall, Manager Community Reablement on 0191 2782898
As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.
