Further information

Foster a Future is Newcastle City Council’s fostering service and we are currently looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who can work constructively and creatively with Foster Carers caring for vulnerable children and young people.

You will need to have sound knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and be able to demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills. Experience of working with children, foster carers, parents and other professionals is highly desirable. Knowledge of family finding and matching children with carers would also be an advantage. A good understanding of the Fostering Regulations, Guidance and National Minimum Standards 2011 (England) is expected.

You must have a relevant social work qualification, such as Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, and current Social Work England registration. This is a progressed worker role and to apply for this post you should have at least 2 years post qualifying experience and have achieved progression.

If you are interested in this post and would like some further information before applying, please email deborah.anderson@newcastle.gov.uk with your preferred contact number and someone from the management team will get back to you.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.
