The Early Help Service (Targeted Family Support) are seeking a Family Intervention Worker to provide frontline casework support to families experiencing difficulties assessed as meeting the Tier 2 threshold for family support. The post-holder will be required to assess the needs of families with dependent children using the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) process and to co-ordinate a multi-agency support plan through the Team Around the Family (TAF) process. The role involves a significant amount of direct intervention work with families on issues such as parenting, home conditions, health, managing income and access to other professionals.



You will have knowledge of child development, children's act 1989, child protection policies/procedures and issues that affect vulnerable children and their families. Understanding the importance of maintaining professional boundaries and equal opportunities, anti-oppressive practice and the impact of discrimination is also essential.

You will have two years' experience of working with children and families at risk or in need, experience of managing cases or offering direct interventions; working in partnership with a wide range of professionals and developing support plans based on comprehensive assessments of need and risk.



You will have good communication skills, both written and verbal, including report-writing and presentation skills, prioritising and organising workload, adhering to service timescales and providing a timely, responsive service to families. Working on your own initiative, adherence to safe lone working practices and experience of using Microsoft Office & outlook packages are also essential.
