Delivering Social Work in the Child in Need Assessment and Intervention service.

We are looking to appoint experienced Social Workers into the Assessment and Intervention service.

The service delivers Social Work to children and families following allocation via our integrated referral team.

The service firmly believes in the power of strength based relational Social Work and its members will hold the ability to address behaviours linked to, or because of, adult and childhood trauma and compromised child/parental relationships and capacity. Supervision will be highly reflective with training in systemic practice a core offer towards your professional development.

The work will predominantly involve assessment and intervention work focussing on effecting sustained change with Children and families in Need. This will include
Formulating plans and interventions targeted at affecting change and undertaking complex interventions with children and families of a child protection nature. In addition to this you will have experience of undertaking complex assessments of need and risk.

The service will also undertake child protection investigations up to the initial Child protection conference as well as taking urgent action to protect the child where necessary.

The service also works collaboratively with our Safeguarding & Care Planning service who work with children subject to Child Protection plans, Looked After children, and those in care proceedings.

Successful applicants will have knowledge of childcare legislation and statutory guidance and the knowledge of child development across the age group and inhibitors to growth and development.

You must have knowledge of child protection and multi-agency responsibilities in addition to Statutory and organisational contexts, corporate parenting responsibilities and Government policy contexts and drivers.

Successful applicants will have experience of practicing statutory childcare Social Work in a multi-disciplinary way and have demonstrable skills in planning and delivering interventions and working intensively with families and children who are at risk of harm. Responding to issues of separation and loss for children and young people.

They will also have the ability to analyse and evaluate complex situations and risk.

We are looking for Social Work England registered social workers with over two years’ experience who hold a recognised social work qualification and PQ training, who can demonstrate a sound understanding of Social Work legislation, assessment and Social Work methodologies, including an awareness of systemic, strength-based approaches.
