The Service
Northumberland County Council in partnership with the County’s Woodland Creation Partnership Group and Local Nature Recovery Strategy Pilot Group have embarked upon the task of creating more woodlands and forests under the Great Northumberland Forest programme whilst setting out a strategic approach to recover and protect nature. The programmes will help tackle the big challenges facing society such as climate change, biodiversity decline, promoting health and wellbeing, and supporting our thriving local economy. Our determination to leave a better, more diverse, and more productive natural environment for the benefit of future generations of Northumbrians and visitors to the County can be realised by planting more trees and recovering nature. We will create and improve new and existing natural environments that our children, communities and businesses will benefit from for decades to come.

The Role
We require a highly organised, analytical Environment Analyst to support the evidence base, need and opportunity for the development of the Great Northumberland Forest and Local Nature Recovery Strategy pilot and other similar programmes which make up our stunning natural capital. This role will support the realisation of the ambition of Defra’s Woodland Creation Partnerships and Local Nature Recovery Strategies.

We are looking for someone who will:
Promote, maintain, record and analyse the evidence and opportunity requirements for the progression of the Great Northumberland Forest, Local Nature Recovery Strategy pilot and other similar programmes.
We are looking for someone with:
The ability to map, maintain, share valuable and relevant quantifiable/qualitive data to effectively support the development of the County’s natural capital.
The ability to effectively communicate in writing and when required in person to further support the need for investment and appropriate expansion of our natural capital. A methodical approach to research, data plotting, data analysis which support natural capital policy and programmes.

We want to hear from professionals committed to natural capital, with a proven track record in managing successful programmes in a forestry, land use planning/land management or a natural capital environment.
