Do you want to make a difference to the lives of Middlesbrough children? Children who for a multitude of reasons are at risk of being cared for outside of their family home if they don’t receive support.

Then working within our brand new Futures for Families Team could be for you.

At Middlesbrough Council we want to stop families from failing, we want to keep homes safe and most of all enable children to have a future that is not limited by circumstance.

We are seeking to recruit a brand new care team who will work directly with those families who are in need, from within a purpose built residential setting.

Whatever your background, if you are tenacious, devoted, direct, if you want to be challenged, and are simply compelled to help others then we want to hear from you today!

The DfE have invested over £84 million over five years to support up to twenty Local Authorities to improve their work with families and safely reduce the number of children entering care. Middlesbrough is one of the local authorities who will be benefitting, by working with North Yorkshire to implement its No Wrong Door Model, under the name Futures for Families.

The Futures for Families team will provide a rapid response to children and families in crisis, enabling them to address and overcome the difficulties that have led to the family being at risk of breakdown, and prevent further escalation and referral to care proceedings.

Working as a senior worker you will need to have relevant experience and a professional approach to carrying out all aspects of this managerial role.

Applicants must:

Have NVQ/Diploma Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification or equivalent for both posts.

Be enthusiastic and motivated to support young people and families on the edge of care within the community and residential setting.

An understanding of child development and challenging behavior.

A positive attitude and a restorative approach when working with young people.

Have experience of working in Residential children homes

They will also need to be able to work unsocial hours i.e.: early mornings, weekend’s sleep-ins, night shift as well as school holidays, evenings and Bank holidays.

Additional allowances will be paid for sleeping in and Sunday working.

The above post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Closing date: Monday 25th January 2021 by 12 midnight.
