Are you an experienced handyperson with excellent decorating, gardening and general DIY skills looking for a role that lets you enjoy your evenings and weekends? You’ve found it! Join us as a DIY Support Advisor and help our service users learn how to maintain and improve their homes.

About the role:

You’ll provide practical assistance to people in their own home, ranging from painting/decorating and gardening, to teaching basic DIY skills. However, this is no normal DIY job. You’ll be taking on a demanding workload and some people we work with have complex issues including homelessness, mental and physical health issues and substance misuse. Your work will contribute to our service users’ support package and you’ll need a real interest in sharing your skills with this group. Prioritising work according to the needs of the service users involved will be important and you will be supported with this by the team and your manager.

About you:

You’ll be skilled in a variety of household DIY areas, e.g. decorating and gardening etc. and will be able to prioritise and organise your work. We’ll also be looking for experience of advising and supervising others undertaking practical tasks around the home. What’s more, you’ll need a full clean driving licence, the ability to complete and maintain records of all work carried out and the ability to use Microsoft office applications.

Please note that you will be required to have an enhanced DBS check for this role.
