Following a comprehensive Service Review of the Community Occupational Therapy Team, North Tyneside Council are looking to recruit two, permanent, full time Occupational Therapists. You must have a solution focussed approach to problem solving and be committed to working alongside the manager to develop a highly effective and efficient service to meet the needs of both internal and external partners. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful post holders to join the service at the beginning of a period of change and service development.

You will work as part of a team to provide telephone triage, advice, information, assessments and rehabilitation, assistive technology solutions and rapid response to ensure that care planning and service reviews of customers, their carer’s and equipment is of the highest standard, whilst employing a ‘Ways to Wellbeing Approach’ to assessment .This will be undertaken whilst adhering to regulatory standards, relevant legislation, agreed eligibility criteria’s as well as managing and identifying risk, and adhering to Council policies and procedures.

You will be expected to work with colleagues across Social Care, Health, Housing and Children’s Services. You must have a ‘can do’ approach to managing challenges within the service or within assessment outcomes. You must ensure that both individual and team targets achieved. You must also have experience of successfully co-ordinating services for people with complex needs whilst working in partnership with both internal and external partners or agencies.

Qualifications and requirements of the post

- Qualified Occupational Therapist
- The ability to work to a high standard even during periods of uncertainty.
- The ability to work within a political context
- Must be able to meet the travelling requirements of the post
- Due to the nature of the role you should hold a full UK driving licence and be flexible to the needs of the service.
