Further information

We’re currently seeking two talented, motivated social workers to join our highly skilled service.

We provide a social work service for children and young people from birth to eighteen who have a wide range of permanent and substantial disabilities, including children who have complex health needs. The team covers all areas of statutory social work practice, which will include referral and assessment, children in need, child protection, and children in care, including court work, leaving care / transition. We work closely with the short break services to ensure that children and their families are supported wherever possible at home.

The role requires a confident approach to working with statutory, private, and voluntary agencies and an ability to identify and apply complex systems and frameworks whilst remaining child centred.

You will be a pro-active analytical thinker with a sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children. We are looking for a strong and reliable team worker, who brings ideas for service delivery and who works in partnership with parents and young people.
You will demonstrate a high level of professionalism, ensuring social work standards are always maintained. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to manage conflicting demands and meet timescales.

This is a small, supportive team and whilst knowledge of working with children with disabilities is desirable, if you are enthusiastic with experience of safeguarding then you will be able to develop more specialist knowledge in post.

Staff joining North Tyneside will benefit from high quality, regular and reflective supervision and a focus on professional development and well-being.

Staff will be supported and equipped to practice using the Signs of Safety approach, use the Liquid Logic case management system and benefit from genuine partnership work.

As an employee of North Tyneside, you will feel valued from the moment you join the organisation. We have a robust induction process to ensure you are supported in your role from day one. Our senior management team are experienced, extremely approachable and value your input.

Your ideas and contributions are valued at North Tyneside and in return you will receive:
- £2,000 market supplement paid in addition to your salary
- Opportunities for training and development
- Supported career progression

In addition to the above unique benefits you will also receive the following local authority benefits:

•an enhanced sick pay scheme
•flexible working
•automatic membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
•childcare vouchers
•cycle to work scheme
•access to occupational health services
•access to our Learning Pool for extensive training and development opportunities

You will be appointed to Grade 8 or 9 depending on your qualifications and experience.
