The post is 25 hours per week, fixed term one year contract in the first instance.

An opportunity exists for a suitable individual to work as a Cook Supervisor for North Tyneside Council’s Employment and Skills Service at the YMCA North Shields kitchen/café. This is an exciting new café and partnership which provides learning and work experience opportunities to adults from the local community. It promotes health and wellbeing, whilst developing their skills and knowledge in working in the Catering and Hospitality industry.

You will need to be able to:
• Provide a high quality food service to the café by planning, preparing and
cooking food to be served in the cafe.
• Organise and supervise NTC staff, learners and volunteers on a day to day
• Ensure all elements of Safer Food Better Business manual are completed
on a daily basis.
• Manage the food ordering, costing and menu planning

You must have experience as a supervisor within a catering environment for a minimum of 2 years, delivering a consistent quality product. You need a minimum of a NVQ level 2 in Food Processing or extensive experience with a proven track record.

In order to meet the needs of the service and the café you will be required to be flexible. This may on occasion include evenings or weekend work. In addition you will participate in catering associated activities/training with Employment and Skills staff and learners.
