A Civil Contingencies Officer is required until 31st August 2020 to provide a civil contingencies service to Durham County Council and organisations with which the council has service level agreements.

The post holder will be part of a small team and play a key role in planning for, protecting and maintaining public safety, as well as anticipating and responding to risks and threats to public safety, such as acts of terrorism, natural disasters, epidemics and major industrial accidents.

The role involves working in close partnership with multi-agency partners within the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) and working with communities, businesses, schools and other organisations to develop and implement community and business resilience.

Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent in a related subject and/or have professional/relevant experience in the field of emergency management or business continuity.

The successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service Disclosure.
