Further information

Gateshead Council has been awarded funding by the Department for Work and Pensions and the European Social Fund to deliver
a project that will provide employment support for Gateshead residents with protected characteristics and for workless tenants of The Gateshead Housing Company who face a range of barriers to employment and economic inclusion.

The Make A Change project will assist 260 residents to access employment and work experience opportunities, support them to achieve qualifications and improve their wellbeing and life chances. Support will be available to residents who are of working age, unemployed or economically inactive, and have multiple challenges to getting into work. The target groups will include unemployed people, people with disabilities, black and minority ethnic (BME) individuals, ex-offenders and lone parents.

Gateshead Council's Economic Development Service in partnership with The Gateshead Housing Company will deliver the Make A Change project in Gateshead as part of the Council's efforts to create a strong, sustainable and inclusive economy.

The Service works across the policy areas that drive growth - the business environment, labour market, housing market and physical infrastructure - with the aim of boosting prosperity and reducing economic inequality.

Make A Change presents an exciting opportunity for motivated, results driven individuals to join Gateshead Council as a Change Coach.

You will provide high quality support, guidance and mentoring to Gateshead residents to help them move closer to and into work. You will work in a collaborative way with individuals and a network of partners to drive transformational change and positively challenge barriers to progression.

Knowledge and Qualifications

You will have knowledge of barriers to employment, the local labour market, out of work benefits and EU funding.

You will be qualified to NVQ Level 4 Information Advice & Guidance or prepared to work towards.

You will have experience of sourcing and retaining suitable participants onto provision, working to job start and/or job outcome targets, delivering interventions to help unemployed people into work, case management and the ability to broker support with external agencies.
