Are you looking for an opportunity to gain a qualification in business administration whilst gaining valuable work experience? Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has an opportunity within the Mental Health Team.

The Mental Health team provide a comprehensive, specialist social work service to service users and their families as part of our continuing collaborative working with our mental health partners in Tees, Esk and Wear Valley Foundation Trust (TEWV). The team works alongside Psychiatric, Nursing and Occupational Therapy colleagues from the TEWV Mental Health Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, positive individual who is self-motivated and able to work using their own initiative as well as being a team player. The successful candidate will be committed to providing an excellent service and be willing to learn and develop their knowledge.

The successful candidate will gain valuable work experience supporting both teams and examples of their roles will include:
• Typing handwritten Mental Health Act Assessment reports into a report template and formatting the reports to a high standard and presentation (e.g. a consistent font style, font size, line spacing, correct punctuation, grammar and spelling).
• Sending finalised Mental Health Assessment reports by post and secure email.
• Requesting colleagues for outstanding Mental Health reports
• Accurately inputting Mental Health Assessment information into a spreadsheet
• Reading and responding to or forwarding any emails received in both individual inbox and team inbox.
• Password protecting documents where necessary.
• Booking meeting rooms, requesting agenda items, producing agendas, circulating agendas, collating apologies, recording notes during meetings, tidying up notes after meetings and circulating the finalised notes.
• Photocopying requests
• Printing requests
• Responsible for scanning and uploading documents onto a database or shared drive then confidentially disposing of the original documents.
• Keeping a supply of information packs ready to be taken to new service users.
• Answering telephone calls and dealing with them where possible.
• Taking accurate telephone messages and sharing the messages with the relevant person.
• Making telephone calls.
• Retrieving answerphone messages and sharing them with the relevant person.
• Looking up data on a database and retrieving information.
• Calculating weekly team capacity.
• Populating letter templates and sending letters.
• Logging the teams annual leave, flexi leave, training and sickness on a spreadsheet
• Collecting team members driving details (insurance, tax, MOT)
• Raising IT requests on behalf of the team e.g. ordering equipment
• Collecting and distributing incoming and outgoing post
• Ordering stationary and supplies

The post holder will attend college 1 weekday per week (day to be confirmed) and will work the remaining 4 weekdays in the Mental Health teams starting at 8:30 am and finishing at 5:00 pm each day with a 1 hour lunch break. Flexible working is available provided needs of the service are met.
