Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) have an exciting opportunity for an assistant accountant to join our finance team based at Discovery Museum. The Assistant Accountant will provide an effective, efficient and customer focused financial and management accountancy service.
You will assist with accountancy work for TWAM, providing budget managers with the necessary financial and management information, and in supporting the Senior Accountant with the closure of the accounts. You will also be involved in the preparation and submitting of grant claims.
You will have extensive experience of management accounts and be proficient with accounting systems. You will have worked in the public, private or third sector with commercial/charity knowledge and an understanding of payroll and VAT.
You will be capable of working in a team and on an individual basis. Good computer skills are essential, particularly spreadsheets. An ability to work accurately to deadlines and good communication skills are required.
AAT qualified or an equivalent accountancy qualification is preferred.
The post will be based at Discovery Museum, currently working from home.
