Further information

Fixed Term - 21 months.

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 hard-working, motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join Highways Operations as Apprentice Paviours.

The successful candidates will learn to carry out all types of paving, kerbing and related highway works, ensuring compliance with specification, quality standards, and in accordance with all current relevant codes of practice and legislation. You will also learn how to plan and organise works directly from drawings, specifications or work instructions, ensuring safe methods of work at all times.

As an Apprentice Paviour, you will undertake the Level 2 Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative apprenticeship 1 day per week at Derwentside College. You will be supported through the apprenticeship by a College assessor and you will also receive regular mentoring in the workplace from your supervisor/team.

You do not need to have prior experience to apply for this apprenticeship but we are interested in receiving applications from candidates who can demonstrate an interest in this industry. Ideally candidates will have a good general education to GCSE level or equivalent including Maths and English. You will be assessed by Derwentside College to determine if you will be required to study for a level 2 qualification in English and/or Maths alongside the apprenticeship.

Applications should be made on-line at northeastjobs.org.uk/sunderlandcitycouncil. For further assistance contact HR by email: jobs@sunderland.gov.uk
