Further information

Required for 5th September 2019
27.5 hours per week/Term Time Only + 2 weeks

Located at the heart of Weardale, an area of outstanding natural beauty, Wolsingham School is approximately 15 minutes’ drive west of Durham. The school is set in extensive grounds, having benefited from a new building in April 2016.

We are seeking to appoint an Administration, Development and Publications Officer to act as a high level administrator and our creative lead on a range of matters. A job description accompanies this advertisement but the exact duties can be shaped to fit the expertise of the postholder, who should be able to produce high quality written documents and/or graphic design so that all of our key internal and external communications are compiled, written and produced to a standard that communicates both information and our ethos in a clear, informative and engaging manner. You will also be the lead for organising a range of school events, like our Open Evening and Presentation Evening and will lead on all aspects of new student recruitment and marketing. Like other members of the admin team, you will share administrative responsibilities and these should be performed with the same attention to detail and care for the success of our school.

The post will require some evening work when running large events, and for that reason the hours are term time plus two weeks, which can be re-allocated to suit work out of normal school hours. This post may be combined with other part-time posts available on our website.

If you are highly organised, have drive and initiative, are creative with writing and/or graphic design and are keen to undertake a hugely varied job to ensure that our school is run efficiently and is always presented in its best light, then we would like to hear from you.

You will find that our school is a remarkable place to work. We have a highly dedicated and supportive staff and leadership, excellent training opportunities and enthusiastic, well-behaved students who are a pleasure to work with. We are oversubscribed for Year 7 entry for September 2019 and the Governors have recently resolved to join a local, high quality Multi Academy Trust so that we provide an even higher standard of education for many more years to come.
We welcome applications regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity or religion. Our school is also committed to the protection and safety of its students. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure DBS check. Durham County Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer. We want to develop a more diverse workforce and we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community. Applicants with disabilities will be invited for interview if the essential job criteria are met.

Where our roles are customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required.

Essential Qualifications:
GCSE English and Maths (Grade A*-C) or equivalent
Level 3 qualification in a relevant field of administration or graphic design

Closing date: 11am – Monday 15th July 2019
Interview date: Wednesday 17th July 2019

Application forms should be returned to the school.
