Resources and Digital Directorate operates at the very core of the Council's operations, working with services to direct financial resources to deliver the Council priorities.

Resources and Digital includes the Council's Financial Management Service, and an opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Accountant to join the Service. The position is essential to maintaining the provision of the service’s high performing financial systems, controls and professional knowledge whilst working in a dynamic and challenging environment.

You will have responsibility for managing a small team and will be required to provide professional advice and relevant, accurate and timely financial information to support the strategic planning process and operational management, assist in the development, operation and maintenance of information systems and provide positive leadership, clear direction, training and support to team members to ensure high levels of performance.

The role is flexible to deliver financial support to any of the Councils Services and provides an exciting opportunity to work on various areas.

You must have excellent communication skills and experience of preparing and presenting financial reports. You should have a comprehensive working knowledge of financial accounting systems and office-based software. Experience of providing professional financial advice to a range of stakeholders is essential.

You should have knowledge of the Local Government financial environment and Local Government accounting standards. You must be able to work with minimum supervision and organise your own workload, be able to manage workloads within tight deadlines and to liaise with a wide variety of internal and external clients.

An AAT qualification (or equivalent) with relevant post qualification experience or a CCAB qualification (or equivalent) is essential.

Starting salary scale will be dependent on candidates’ qualifications and experience.
