Please Note

Applicants will no longer be able to use their North East Jobs account to apply. If you are internal to Middlesbrough Council, you will be required to use your Staff Portal credentials to log in. Alternatively, if you are an external applicant, you will need to register as a ‘new user’, and use the log on credentials created for any future applications.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated professional to join a small team within Middlesbrough Council's Access to Education department.

You will provide a range of administrative support, helping to ensure that Middlesbrough's children, families and schools enjoy a swift and smooth service from the Local Authority, with a key focus on International New Arrivals. Your will be part of the Children Missing Education Team (CME), helping to ensure that children who have gone missing, have been removed from a school roll or are not accessing their statutory entitlement to education are properly accounted for. You will work with schools and other agencies to identify key groups of children, and produce reports for management detailing trends and concerns, supporting actions to keep children safe.

The successful candidate will be a confident and accomplished communicator, have excellent IT skills, a willingness to learn and a strong desire to offer an outstanding service. Experience of working within a local authority environment would be an advantage but is not essential. However you will need to be able to demonstrate extensive administrative experience and be accustomed to working in a busy office, under pressure and to tight deadlines. The ability to prioritise and multi task is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the ambition and skills to support us in our shared goal of providing an outstanding level of service. If you are passionate about improving children's life chances and enjoy working in a fast paced environment, you may be the right person for us.

For an informal discussion, please contact Trevor Dunn, Head of Access to Education on 01642 201885 or, Dave Lister, CME Manager on 01642 729286.

The above post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
