This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland. We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.

Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our children?

If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Children and Families Directorate, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

We are looking for a Child and Family Intervention Worker to complete targeted pieces of work with young people, developing a plan of support using the signs of safety practice model. As well as working directly with young people, you will also work with the whole family as a dedicated hands on worker providing support to the families and coordinating services as the lead professional in the Team around the Family process, which includes completing Early Help Assessments and reviews.

You will hold a caseload of families and young people to ensure they get the right support in a timely manner to avoid the escalation of risk or need.
You will have substantial experience of working with children and families in local community settings. You will be part of a creative, enthusiastic, and dynamic team; committed to supporting families and young people with a range of complex needs to achieve sustainable outcomes. You will have an understanding of the Supporting Families agenda and will complete the relevant paperwork to demonstrate presenting issues and outcomes achieved.

As a Child and Family Intervention Worker you will use the signs of safety framework to support partners to be the lead practitioner and follow the EHA process, including role modelling whole family working to make sure partners can facilitate the changes needed for the child and family.
Although based within one locality team, you may be asked to work across other areas of the Borough as and when needed. You will receive excellent support and supervision, together with genuine opportunities for personal development

The council holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
