Durham County Council is seeking to appoint two Senior Auditor posts within the Internal
Audit, Risk and Fraud Service. One of the posts is full time permanent, the other is full time
temporary until approximately 31st March 2023.

The Council’s Internal Audit Service is highly thought of and provides services to a wide
range of clients including Police and Fire. This role will involve undertaking a range of
internal audits, in accordance with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS),
reviewing the effectiveness of the control environment.

You will be responsible for managing your own workload, arranging and agreeing the scope
of audits with clients and preparing and agreeing audit reports, as well as meeting
deadlines and ensuring audits are completed within budgeted timescales.

Experience of undertaking internal audits is essential, preferably in local government, as is
the ability to work with minimum supervision. You must be confident in dealing with
managers of all levels and providing professional advice as necessary.

Experience of using an electronic audit management system, preferably Galileo, is desirable.
