The Finance and Transaction Services Team provides a number of key front-line council functions to residents and businesses throughout the County. There are circa 70,000 Housing Benefit / Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme (LCTRS) claimants; 249,000 council tax households; 16,000 business rate payers; and 7,000 adult social care charge paying clients supported by the service. Many of the clients supported are vulnerable.

There are 2 full time vacancies (37 hours per week) within the Payments, Income and Support Team in the role of Debtors & Collection Officer.

The successful candidates must have experience of dealing with members of the public in a caring, responsive manner, operating on line computer systems and relevant experience operating financial management systems.

Whilst the office base is Green Lane, Spennymoor, a hybrid working pattern is currently being operated with staff working part of the week at home and part of the week in the office.

Candidates should have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or, Level 2 with relevant experience working in a collection/recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates, sundry debt and/or Adult Social Care finance environment, or, a financial services/support environment.
